Most of our clients are charged with strictly indictable offences, that means their case has to go through the committal proceedings at the Local Court or the Magistrate Court before it could be finalised at the District Court or Supreme Court.

Most of the serious drugs offences such as cannabis cultivation, supply or importation are strictly indictable that will be prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Solis Lawyers has gained a formidable reputation in dealing with drug offences and achieving excellent results. What we have excelled has been our ability to vigorously advocate for those charged with cannabis cultivation, drug supply and importation during the committal proceedings.

Through our experience, we work effectively to analyse the brief of evidence prepared by the police, challenge the accuracy of initial charges that have been laid by the police. We investigate every possible defence and persistently negotiate with the Director of Public Prosecutions for the most favourable charges and a strongly favourable set of Agreed Facts so that our clients could achieve the most favourable outcome at the District Court.

It is very often that due to our effective negotiation skill and strong advocacy during the committal proceedings, our clients’ initial serious charges got withdrawn or downgraded to much lesser charges that could be finalised at the Local Court.
